Tournament Mode

Tournament mode lets you run multi-round events with cumulative scoring and optional cut lines, similar to a real PGA-style tournament. Tournaments are created through the League Setup Wizard by selecting the Tournament mode.

How Tournament Mode Works

A tournament is a special league type with these key differences from regular season leagues:

  • Fixed rounds instead of weeks. A tournament has 2, 3, or 4 rounds. Each round is automatically created as a "week" when the tournament is set up.
  • Cumulative scoring. Player standings are ranked by their total score across all completed rounds rather than weekly points.
  • Optional cut lines. You can eliminate players after a specified round, just like a professional tournament.

Setting Up a Tournament

1
Select Tournament mode
In the setup wizard, select Tournament as the mode.
2
Choose scoring format
Select Stroke Play, Stableford, or Match Play.
3
Set number of rounds
Choose 2, 3, or 4 rounds.
4
Configure cut line (optional)
Enable to eliminate players after a specific round. Configure which round the cut occurs after and how many players advance.
5
Set start date
Rounds are created one per day from this date.

Tournament Scoring Formats

FormatHow Standings Are Ranked
Stroke PlayLowest cumulative net score across all rounds wins.
StablefordHighest cumulative stableford points across all rounds wins.
Match PlayHighest cumulative match points across all rounds wins.

Managing Rounds

Each tournament round functions like a league week. From the tournament overview screen you can see:

  • The round number, date, and assigned course
  • Whether matchups have been generated
  • How many scorecards have been submitted
  • Whether the round is locked (scores finalized)

Scores are entered the same way as regular league weeks — navigate to the round, click on a matchup, and enter hole-by-hole scores. See Entering Scores for details.

Cut Lines

Cut lines allow you to eliminate players who fall outside a threshold after a given round. This mirrors how professional tournaments work (for example, the top 65 and ties make the cut after round 2).

Cut Configuration

SettingDescription
After RoundWhich round the cut is applied after (must be before the final round).
Top NHow many players advance past the cut.
Plus TiesWhen enabled, all players tied at the cut line score also advance.

Applying a Cut

1
Lock the round
Ensure the round is locked (all scores finalized).
2
Apply Cut
Open the tournament overview and click Apply Cut for the configured round.
3
Review results
RoundBoss ranks all active players by cumulative score and determines the cut line. Players outside the threshold are marked as cut.
warning
You must lock a round before making the cut. This makes sure all scores are in before anyone is eliminated.

Cut Rules

  • If Plus Ties is enabled and multiple players are tied at the cut line score, all of them advance. For example, if the cut is Top 16 but 3 players are tied for 16th, 18 players advance.
  • For Stroke Play, the cut keeps the players with the lowest cumulative scores. For Stableford and Match Play, the cut keeps the highest cumulative scores.
  • You can undo a cut after applying it. This restores all eliminated players so they can play in subsequent rounds.

Tournament Leaderboard

The tournament leaderboard shows all players ranked by their cumulative score across completed rounds. Players who have been cut are displayed below the cut line with their final standing.

The overview screen also shows a top-5 standings preview so you can see the leaders at a glance.

Troubleshooting

error
"Round must be locked before applying cut" -- Make sure all scores are entered, then lock the round from the week page so nothing changes before players are eliminated.
warning
"No cut configured after round N" -- You need to set a cut line for each round where you want to eliminate players. Check your tournament settings.
info
"Only N active players with scores -- no cut needed" -- If everyone left is already within the cutoff, nobody needs to be eliminated.
