Getting Started
This guide walks new league managers through setting up their first season on RoundBoss, from account creation to the first week of play.
Set Up Your League
Go to roundboss.com and tap Start Your League. Create an account with your email address and a secure password. You will receive a confirmation email to verify your address.
From the manager dashboard, tap Create League. The wizard walks you through seven steps:
- Mode — League, plus Real Course or Simulator (Simulator needs a Golf Course plan).
- Basics — League name and 9 or 18 holes (Front 9 / Back 9 for nine-hole leagues).
- Format — Match Play, Stroke Play, Stableford, Scramble, Best Ball, Alternate Shot, or Team Match Play.
- Details — Team options and your course (course scorecard search + zip code, or a GSPro catalog course).
- Schedule — Start date and number of season weeks (you can extend this later).
- Players — Names one per line; optionally auto-generate matchups or teams.
- Review — Click Create League. Your first league activates automatically during the free trial.
If you skipped the Players step, you have two options:
- Add individually — Enter each player's name one at a time.
- CSV import — Upload a spreadsheet with player names. Use the Export Template button for the correct format.
Each player automatically receives a unique access link and QR code. Share these so players can access their dashboard.
Review the default scoring settings or adjust them from the Settings tab:
- Rolling average weeks — How many recent weeks to include in handicap calculations.
- Stroke multiplier — The fraction applied to average differences (default: 0.9).
- Point values — Hole win, push, bonus, and per-match cap are all configurable.
- Card table — The target scores for Play the Card rounds.
See Scoring Configuration for full details.
Navigate to the current week and generate matchups. Choose from:
- Random (No Repeat) — Players are paired randomly, and RoundBoss avoids repeating the same matchup until all possible pairings have been used.
- Skill-based — Players are matched by similar handicap.
- Social Mixer — Prioritizes variety so players meet different opponents.
- Manual — You pick the pairings yourself.
Each player has a unique URL and QR code. Send these out via text, email, or print. Players do not need to create an account — they tap the link and see their dashboard immediately.
What Happens Each Week
The manager (or co-manager) enters hole-by-hole scores after the round.
RoundBoss calculates match play points, handicap strokes, and leaderboard standings automatically.
Players check the leaderboard, their stats, and upcoming matchups from their portal.
