Stroke Play

In a Stroke Play league every golfer plays their own round and the lowest net score wins. There is no opponent, no match points and no byes. Handicap strokes are taken off the gross score, hole by hole.

Makeup rounds, miss points and Play the Card are for match play and team match play only. A golfer who can't play a week can mark it as "Not playing this week". See Scoring Rules.

Scoring a Round

1
Work out the golfer's strokes

Strokes = floor((average, rounded to one decimal, minus the par of the holes played) x the league's stroke multiplier), never below 0. Leagues set to WHS use the golfer's course handicap from their tee instead. See Handicap and Strokes.

2
Give the strokes to the hardest holes

Strokes go to the holes with the lowest stroke index (the hardest holes).

3
Subtract per hole

Net for a hole = gross minus the strokes given on that hole. The round's net total is the sum of the hole nets.

Example. A golfer shoots 5 on a par 4 that gets one stroke: net 4. On a hole with no stroke a 5 stays 5.

Season Standings

Standings rank golfers by net score, lowest first. Choose how in the league's stroke leaderboard setting:

ModeWhat is ranked
AverageThe golfer's average net total over the rounds they played, rounded to one decimal.
CumulativeNet strokes versus par added up over the rounds they played, so skipping a week never moves anyone up.
  • A missed week is not counted as a round played and adds no net score.
  • Golfers with no rounds played are listed at the bottom.
  • Tied golfers share a rank and are listed alphabetically. See Leaderboard.
  • The hot streak icon goes to the lowest average net over the rounds played in the last two locked weeks.

See Season Standings for the other standings views.
