GHIN Integration
RoundBoss integrates with the USGA's GHIN system to pull official handicap indexes for your players.
How It Works
When a player has a GHIN number set, RoundBoss can look up their official GHIN Handicap Index in real time. The GHIN index is used for display, the player directory, flight assignment, and auto-assign — it does not determine the strokes a player gives or receives in a match. Match strokes always follow the league's configured handicap method (rolling average, established, or WHS). See Handicap and Strokes.
Setting a Player's GHIN Number
Open your league and go to the Players tab.
Click on a player to edit their details.
Enter their GHIN number in the GHIN field. RoundBoss will look up their current index automatically.
Bulk Refresh
You can refresh all players' GHIN handicaps at once from the Players tab. This pulls the latest index for every player who has a GHIN number set.
How GHIN Is Used
The GHIN index drives display (player-facing handicap labels), the player directory, flight assignment, and auto-assign suggestions. It does not feed the match-scoring engine.
Match strokes are calculated from the league's handicap_method:
- Rolling Average — the league's state-based rolling average of recent gross scores (with the established handicap as seed/fallback)
- Established — the player's manually entered established handicap
- WHS — a World Handicap System index computed from entered scores, course rating, and slope
