Session Lifecycle
A simulator session in RoundBoss tracks a group of players through a round on a GSPro simulator. This page covers the full lifecycle of a session from creation to completion, including stopping sessions, viewing archives, and recovery options.
Session Statuses
| Status | Meaning | What Happens Next |
|---|---|---|
| Pending | Session created, waiting for players to check in or scores to arrive | Moves to Active when scores start streaming or players check in |
| Active | Players are checked in and/or live score data is being received | Moves to Round Started when GSPro round is detected |
| Round Started | GSPro round is in progress, live scores are streaming hole by hole | Moves to Completed when scores are finalized |
| Completed | Scores have been finalized into official league match records | Session is archived and visible in session history |
How Sessions Are Created
Sessions can be created in two ways:
Auto-Session (Bridge)
The Bridge app running on the simulator PC automatically creates sessions for today’s scheduled league weeks. If a session already exists for the same week and bay, it reuses the existing one instead of creating a duplicate.
See Kiosk, Auto-Session & Auto-Finalize for full details on auto-session behavior.
Manual Creation
Live Score Streaming
Once a GSPro round begins, scores stream to RoundBoss automatically. The RoundBoss Bridge app handles all communication between GSPro and RoundBoss automatically, so no manual intervention is needed.
The live leaderboard updates automatically as scores arrive. When scores arrive on a Pending session, the status automatically advances to Active.
Finalization
Finalization converts live session scores into official league match records. Once finalized, scores appear on the leaderboard, in player portals, and in season standings.
Auto-Finalize
When all players in a session complete all holes, the Bridge can trigger auto-finalization. This:
- Maps each checked-in player to their league match for the week
- Writes hole-by-hole scores into the official match record
- Sets the session status to Completed
- Updates the leaderboard in real-time
Manual Finalize
| Scenario | Finalization Behavior |
|---|---|
| Player checked in, round complete, match found | Scores written to official match record |
| Player checked in but no match for this week | Reported as error in the finalization summary |
| Player has incomplete round | Skipped by auto-finalize. Manager can force-finalize manually |
Stopping a Session
A manager can stop any active session that has not yet been finalized.
Stopped sessions remain in the system and can be viewed in the session history.
Scrapping a Round
Scrap Round is different from Stop: it keeps the session alive but wipes the recorded shots so the group can replay the round from the kiosk.
Viewing Session History
By default, the Simulator tab shows only active (non-completed) sessions. To see completed and stopped sessions:
- Go to the Simulator tab
- Toggle Show archived sessions (or similar filter)
- Completed sessions appear with their finalization details
Archived sessions retain all data including check-ins, live scores, and finalization results.
Session Deduplication
This means:
- The Bridge can safely restart without creating duplicate sessions
- Multiple auto-session checks will not produce duplicates
- A manager creating a session manually for a week/bay that already has one will get the existing session
Recovery Options
Scores Not Finalized
If a session completed but scores were not properly finalized:
- The live scores are still stored on the session record
- Open the session detail and use Finalize Scores to retry
- If players are not matched, check that they have match assignments for the week
Session Created for Wrong Week
Stop the session (it will not have finalized scores) and create a new one for the correct week.
Bridge Disconnected Mid-Round
If the Bridge temporarily loses its connection, no data is lost. Once connectivity is restored, the session continues from where it left off.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| Session stuck in Pending | The Bridge has not sent any scores yet. Verify the Bridge service is running and the GSPro round has started |
| Session shows Active but no scores | A check-in occurred but GSPro has not started the round. Ensure the course is loaded in GSPro and the round has begun |
| Auto-finalize did not trigger | All players must complete all holes. Check the session for incomplete rounds. Use manual finalize with force option if needed |
| Duplicate sessions appearing | This should not happen due to deduplication. If it does, stop the duplicate session and contact support |
| Scores lost after session stopped | Stopping a session does not delete data. Live scores remain on the session record. However, stopping does not finalize scores into match records |
