Presses

A press is a side bet that starts a new match-within-a-match beginning at a specific hole. Presses are available in match play leagues and are tracked separately from the main match score.

info
Presses use the same hole-by-hole net scoring as the main match. Win and push point values come from your league settings.

How Presses Work

When a player initiates a press, a new scoring context begins at the selected hole and runs through the end of the round. Each press uses the same hole-by-hole net scoring as the main match:

  • Win the hole (lower net score) -- earns the league's configured win points (default: 1)
  • Push (tied net score) -- each player earns push points (default: 0.5)
  • Lose the hole -- 0 points

The press runs from its start hole through the final hole of the round. When the match is submitted, each press is finalized and a winner is determined based on total press points.

Creating a Press

1
Open your match

Open your match from the schedule or match view.

2
Tap the Press button

Tap the Press button on the hole where you want the new bet to start.

3
Press is active

The press is created immediately and begins tracking from that hole forward.

warning

Presses can only be created on holes that have not yet been completed.

Nested Presses

Presses can be nested -- you can press a press. A child press references its parent and starts at a later hole. This mirrors the traditional golf betting convention where a player who is losing a press can press again to create a new bet.

To create a nested press, tap the press button on a later hole after an existing press is already active.

Scoring Details

FieldDescription
Start HoleThe hole number where the press begins (1 through 18)
Statusactive while the match is in progress, completed once the match is submitted
Player A PointsNet match play points earned by player A within the press window
Player B PointsNet match play points earned by player B within the press window
WinnerThe player with more press points, or no winner if tied

Press scores are recalculated automatically whenever hole scores are updated. When the match is submitted, all active presses are marked as completed.

Viewing Presses

Active and completed presses are visible on the match detail view. Each press shows the start hole, current point totals for both players, and the status. Completed presses display the winner.

How Presses Relate to Nassau

info
In 18-hole leagues with Nassau, the match is already split into Front 9, Back 9, and Overall. Presses work on top of that -- you can press at any point during the round. Press points are tracked separately and do not change the main match or Nassau results.

Troubleshooting

I do not see the press button. Presses are only available in match play format leagues. Stroke, stableford, scramble, best ball, and alternate shot leagues do not support presses.

A press shows 0 points for both players. The press was likely created on a hole that has not been scored yet. Points will appear once hole scores are entered for holes within the press range.

Can I delete a press? Presses cannot be deleted once created. They remain as part of the match record.
