Fun Weeks
Fun weeks are special weeks where the league plays a casual or alternate format. When a week is marked as a fun week, RoundBoss changes the matchup pairing strategy and optionally excludes the week’s scores from the season leaderboard.
Fun weeks pair the best handicap with the worst, the second-best with the second-worst, and so on for balanced matchups.
Optionally exclude fun week scores from the season leaderboard and hot streak calculations.
Add a format description (e.g., "2-man scramble" or "3 club challenge") visible to players in their schedule.
How It Works
Best-vs-Worst Pairing
During a fun week, players are paired by handicap in opposite order:
- All players are sorted by handicap (lowest/best first)
- The best handicap is paired with the worst
- The second-best is paired with the second-worst
- This continues until all players are paired
For example, with 8 players at handicaps 0, 2, 5, 8, 12, 15, 18, and 25:
| Match | Player A | Player B |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 0 handicap | 25 handicap |
| 2 | 2 handicap | 18 handicap |
| 3 | 5 handicap | 15 handicap |
| 4 | 8 handicap | 12 handicap |
Leaderboard Exclusion
The league setting Fun week counts toward leaderboard controls whether fun week scores are included in standings:
- Enabled (default) — Fun week points count normally toward the season leaderboard
- Disabled — Fun week scores are excluded from all leaderboard calculations, including match play, team match play, scramble standings, and hot hand stats
Manager Setup
When creating or editing a week:
- Fun Week toggle — Mark the week as a fun week
- Format description — Optional free-text field describing the format (e.g., “Best ball”, “Alternate shot”). This is displayed to players in their schedule but does not affect scoring logic.
Player View
Players see fun weeks labeled in their schedule with the format description if one was provided. Depending on the league’s leaderboard setting, players may also see that the week’s scores are excluded from standings.
