Entering Scores

Scores can be entered by the league manager, by a co-manager, or — when the league has Player Score Entry enabled — by the players themselves directly from their portal.

Player Score Entry Toggle

Every league has a Player Score Entry setting in Settings → Scoring (default on).

• On — Players can enter and edit their own match scores from the player portal until the week is locked. Managers and co-managers can still enter or edit any match.
• Off — Only managers and co-managers can enter scores. Players see view-only screens.

The player-side CTA on the dashboard, schedule, and round detail screens is state-aware:

• Enter Scores — Round not yet submitted; player can submit.
• Edit Scores — Round submitted but the week is unlocked; player can re-open and correct.
• View Scores — Either the week is locked, the player isn't permitted, or the round was finalized by GSPro.

Score Entry Flow

Stepper Score Entry (New / Rolling Out)

RoundBoss is rolling out a redesigned mobile score-entry experience, the Stepper, gated by a per-league flag (new_score_entry_enabled). The flag is admin-set and off by default — when off, leagues keep the traditional hole-by-hole form described above. It currently covers match play; best ball and team rounds still use the traditional form.

The Stepper has two tabs:

• Hole tab — Big +/− steppers for the current hole, player tabs to switch whose score you're entering, a progress bar with ★ markers on stroke holes, a live net total, and a stroke banner showing strokes given on that hole.
• Scorecard tab — A full-round grid with Par, Hdcp, gross, and Net columns, gold shading on holes where a stroke is applied, and tap-to-jump to any hole.

How Scores are Processed

Once both players' scores are entered, RoundBoss automatically:

1. Applies handicap strokes to the appropriate holes.
2. Compares adjusted scores hole by hole to determine wins, losses, and pushes.
3. Awards the bonus to the player with the lower adjusted total.
4. Calculates total match points based on your league's scoring configuration.

Weekly Results Display

After scores are submitted, the weekly results page shows both Gross and Net columns for each player or team. This makes it easy to see raw scores alongside handicap-adjusted scores at a glance.

Team Format Matchup Points

For team formats (Best Ball, Scramble) using match play scoring, matchup points are automatically calculated when scores are submitted. Once both teams in a matchup have scores entered, RoundBoss compares team net totals and awards points immediately. No separate step is needed to resolve matchups.

Editing Scores

Scores can be edited after entry. Click on a completed matchup to update any hole. Point totals recalculate automatically when scores change.

Team-Format Attendance

When a player opens their team's scorecard (Best Ball, Scramble, or Alternate Shot) and a partner didn't show up, the Attendance bar at the top lets them mark each missing teammate as absent:

• Partial attendance — Check off only the absent teammate(s). Score entry continues normally with the players who are present. Absent rows are greyed out and skipped in the auto-advance flow.
• Whole team missed — If every teammate is marked absent, the form replaces the normal Submit button with a red Submit (Team Missed) button. Tapping it records the team as absent for the week; the matchup resolver awards the configured Miss Points to the absent team and Win Points to the opposing team.

A solo player whose partner is absent is still eligible for Low Net winnings.

Play the Card Entries

When a player's opponent did not play, the manager enters only the present player's scores. RoundBoss compares them against the course card to calculate Play the Card points. See Play the Card for details.
