Team Management

Teams are used in every team format — Best Ball, Scramble, Alternate Shot, and Team Match Play. This page covers creating and managing teams from the manager dashboard.

Creating Teams

1
Open the Teams tab

Navigate to the Teams tab in your league management page.

2
Add teams

Click Add Team and enter a team name. Repeat for each team in your league.

3
Assign players

Unassigned players appear in a list below the team cards. Use the add button on each team card to assign players. Players can only belong to one team at a time.

Team Size

Team size is configured when creating the league:

  • Best Ball / Scramble / Team Match Play — 2-4 players per team (set during league creation).
  • Alternate Shot — fixed at 2 players per team.
  • Team Match Play also requires every team to have the same number of members before matchups can be generated.

Once teams are created, you cannot change the team size. Pick the right size before you start building teams.

Default Handicap Cap

Each team can carry a default handicap cap (Handicap Cap field on the team edit modal, 0–72). The cap limits the team's effective handicap strokes for every future unlocked round.

  • The cap propagates automatically — change it and every future unlocked round/matchup picks up the new value.
  • Past rounds aren't modified (each round snapshots the cap at creation time).
  • Set the cap to 0 to enforce scratch play for that team.
  • Cap-vs-override precedence: session override → persisted override → cap → live handicap. See Handicap Strokes for the full snapshot/override rules.

Auto-Assign

Click Auto-Assign to let RoundBoss distribute unassigned players across teams automatically. Players are distributed evenly. You can manually adjust assignments afterward.

Auto-Assign is a great way to quickly fill teams, then make manual adjustments for balance.

Removing Players from Teams

Click the remove button next to a player's name on their team card. The player returns to the unassigned list and can be reassigned to a different team.

Player Team Dashboard

Players on a team see their team information, teammates, and current match status from their personal dashboard.

Mid-Season Changes

Players can be moved between teams during the season. Historical match results are preserved — matches reference the player directly, so past scores remain accurate even if the player changes teams.
