Match Play Points
RoundBoss uses an individual head-to-head match play format where players earn points on every hole. All point values described below are defaults -- managers can customize them in Scoring Configuration.
Point System
Each hole is scored independently after handicap strokes are applied:
- Win the hole (lower adjusted score) -- points awarded (default: 1)
- Push (tied adjusted score) -- points split (default: 0.5 each)
- Lose the hole -- 0 points
Bonus Points
After all 9 holes are scored, the player with the lower adjusted total receives a bonus (default: 3 points). If both players have the same adjusted total, the bonus is split evenly between them.
Per-Match Cap
The per-match point cap (default: 12) limits total points from a single match. In practice, most matches produce between 4 and 8 points per player.
Example
Using default values -- Player A wins 5 holes, Player B wins 3 holes, and 1 hole is pushed. Player A also has the lower total.
Player A wins 5 holes = 5 points. Player B wins 3 holes = 3 points.
1 pushed hole = 0.5 points each. Player A: 5.5. Player B: 3.5.
Player A has the lower adjusted total and earns the 3-point bonus. Player A: 8.5. Player B: 3.5.
Final scores:
- Player A: 5 + 0.5 + 3 = 8.5 points
- Player B: 3 + 0.5 = 3.5 points
The per-match cap prevents runaway scores. Even if a player wins every hole and the total bonus, they cannot exceed the cap (default: 12 points).
